POSITION:  Senior Marketing Technology Manager

Job Description Summary

Fenwick is seeking for a Senior Marketing Technology Manager who will oversee the technology aspects of the firm’s marketing initiatives. This individual will focus on applying technology to enable the continuous improvement and ongoing success of all marketing programs. The Senior Manager understands leading marketing technology practices across the B2B marketing industry (with emphasis on the Legal sector) and spearheads consistent updating of technology-driven programs and the marketing department personnel as well. This position can be based in any of our offices.

Job Description

Team Leadership. Responsible for leading the Marketing Technology team, including prioritizing the team’s workload and measure quality, expanding capabilities and competencies, and managing individual performance.

Vendor Relationships. Accountable for identifying, selecting, engaging, and managing relationships with the firm’s marketing technology vendors; review, develop business cases for, and approve marketing tools.

Operational Effectiveness. Drives continuous efficiency and improvement with the firm’s use of marketing technology. Establishes operational processes, creating clarity of roles and responsibilities, and defining workflows.

Programs and Campaigns. Provides technology support to the firm’s marketing/BD programs and campaigns, which results in more efficient program processes. Develops and maintains detailed plans for key campaign and programs, reporting dashboards, workflow tools, documentation, and tracking.

Strategy. Accountable for the definition, automation, and streamlining of marketing processes, transitioning them from mere marketing strategies into real marketing assets.

Analytics. Spearheads the development of analytical tools, reports and processes that drive efficiency across the entire marketing department.

Collaboration. Partners with the IT department for the purpose of optimizing CRM systems, marketing technologies, meta-data management, website and online page improvements, direct mail production, etc. Works closely with the Marketing/BD team, partners, and other key stakeholders in continuously optimizing the effectiveness of the marketing programs and campaigns and ensuring that marketing and sales efforts stay aligned with the business’s overall goals and objectives.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Able to independently handle all aspects of the marketing technology function at a high level, and effectively delegate, guide, and oversee the execution of the function.

  • Knowledge of platforms such as CRM (Salesforce preferred), ERM, Marketing Automation and Web Content Management.

  • Proficient in Google Analytics and PowerBI, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Strong communication skills required (both verbal and written), and able to effectively convey complex information and concept to stakeholders.

  • Leverage multiple resources and sources of information to develop strategic guidance for the team, firm leaders and PGLs, reflecting anticipated attorney and client needs.

  • Conceptualize all aspects of projects, communicates overall context/strategy/high-level project goals, and inspires participation at all levels in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Develop complex, multi-project plans that understand firm goals, priorities and resource constraints.

  • Be familiar with Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI) metrics and be able to use them supports decision making on addition and deployment of marketing resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to design business-focused KPIs and reports to meet the needs of decision makers and end users.

  • Integrate data into decision-making for “needle moving” projects that create significant opportunities for the firm.

  • Ability to anticipate significant problems and efficiently develop creative and feasible solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decision.

  • Able to manage multiple deadlines; highly adaptable and flexible with an ability to change direction and priorities when needed.

  • Strong business and budgeting acumen.

  • Self-starter and able to work both independently and within a team (a sense of humor helps, too).

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the qualified candidate will have at least 12 years' experience working in a managerial marketing position within a matrixed professional services environment. Law, engineering, accounting, and investment banking experience are all applicable to the role. This individual will have successful experience in project management and program improvement, having developed plans that demonstrably support critical marketing paths and task dependencies. This includes leading a team to the successful completion of a marketing program/campaign from its conceptualization to the achievement of its objectives. Experience not only in online marketing strategies but also in offline/traditional strategies highly preferred. Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a business related or technical field. Master's degree a plus.
