The New York Office is recruiting seasoned, results-oriented Business Development Manager who will develop and work collaboratively on strategic practice planning with the Director of Business Development on the Firm’s transactional practices (M&A/Private Equity, Debt Finance, Capital Markets, among others) to help drive new business objectives. This professional will manage New York-based business development initiatives and be a strategic adviser to the attorneys.

This candidate will manage the day-to-day functions of the rapidly growing New York transactional business development team. This is a highly visible role and the candidate will be the primary point of contact strategic and tactical initiatives. He/she will manage a dedicated team of pitch professionals and be responsible for drafting, maintaining and refining marketing materials and pitch execution; conducting market and deal research; tracking industry/client trends; identify speaking opportunities; and collaborating on bespoke practice-specific initiatives/projects and general practice support, including client events and seminars.

Education, Work Experience, Skills

A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience within professional services with proven business development, client development or marketing experience is required. Professional experience and a background in M&A/private equity are preferred. Law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus. At least 2 of these years will have been in a managerial role where you have developed and led BD efforts and initiatives for a firm.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including an innate ability to communicate to the stakeholders on overall efforts, progress and results.
  • Very strong project management abilities to lead and control large, complex pitches, proposals and RFPs;
  • Strong background in business intelligence, target research and client prospecting.
  • Able to easily and quickly develop rapport and build relationships while displaying key influencing skills.
  • Must possess an executive presence, political and business savvy and display diplomacy, and respect.


    • Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint. Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel is required.
    • Experience with various market intelligence platforms, including but not limited to Bloomberg, Capital IQ, ThomsonOne, Pitchbook, Refinitiv, Preqin, Manzama, The Deal Pipeline, and Corporate Affiliations is required.
    • CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience is a plus.
